Our Mission

“To educate, promote, and foster the joy of dance in our community.”

Dance Arts Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating, promoting, and fostering the joy of dance in our community. Partnered with West Sound Dance Academy, we provide a performance outlet for young local dancers and enrich our community through the art of movement.

Our Story

Miss Irene Miller opened up Irene's School of Dance in 1975 in Silverdale, Washington. A few years later, in 1979, she created Dance Arts Theatre as a performing dance group promoting dance and fine arts in Kitsap County. We were partnered with Irene's School of Dance until Irene retired in 2023.

In 2023, Irene's School of Dance transitioned into West Sound Dance Academy, and Dance Arts Theatre had a new home, still in Silverdale.

We are dedicated to the cultural enrichment of Kitsap County by providing a performance outlet for young local dancers and by bringing dance to a large cross section of our community.

Each season we present two full productions — our beloved annual Nutcracker in November and a spring production featuring classical or contemporary ballet. Our performances take place at venues throughout Kitsap County.
